Small changes can and have made a difference.

I’m writing this success story about a fellow teammate on our LHI team this past year. Our friend, Beth Titman, was very excited to be a part of a LHI team.  She really wanted to make some changes in her life and felt the program and team support would give her the incentive to make those changes.

As a team we decided we needed to meet once a week to make ourselves accountable to our 100-Day commitment.  We started meeting once a week to discuss what was working for us, what things weren’t, etc.  Then we started adding activity with discussions such as walking as a team, doing yoga/pilates together, we even went on a grocery store tour with a dietitian to gain some sensible eating/shopping habits.  Beth took the latter one and made some major food changes in her family life.

By our next team meeting, Beth had already incorporated changes.  She switched from 2% chocolate milk to skim chocolate milk; instead of buying the soft white bread she purchased whole wheat.  She changed the contents in their fruit bowl from granola bars, candy bars, etc. to fresh fruit.  Beth also increased her activity level and started walking and occasionally riding her bike in addition to participating in our weekly yoga/pilates sessions.  These are just a few examples of Beth’s new healthy lifestyle.  Although they don’t seem significant, these small changes can and have made a difference.  Fortunately, her family has also been supportive of these changes.

We completed the 100-Day challenge over a month now, but Beth continues to make lifestyle adjustments and has seen weight loss.  She continues to be a motivator for her LHI teammates.
