Rekindle Your Passion!

It was the third week of ‘100-Day Live Healthy Challenge’ and I had started giving excuses already – “It was a busy day, I’m tired, no workout today”; “Treadmill is so boring, I don’t want to do it”; “I have to skip the evening walk, it’s so cold out there”; “I hate to do it but I cannot miss Happy Hour with my girlfriends”; so on and so forth. All excuses aside, in my heart I knew, I was being lazy. My husband would tease me about the inertia everyday – He is a regular Gymmie!

One fine evening, instead of working out, I was fidgeting across laptop keyboard. On www.google.com, I typed, ‘Exercise at home.’ I was discouraged to see options like stair climbing, couch kicks, laundry lifts etc. Treadmill, elliptical, walk in the neighborhood etc. is all good but it’s monotonous to me. Knowing my own self, I knew I needed something vibrant, energetic, dynamic and fun. I scrolled down on the webpage and it was at this moment I came across something that ‘Rekindled My Passion’. It was a video about ‘Jazzercise’!

Jazzercise is the original dance fitness, total-body conditioning program that combines the art of jazz dance and the beat of popular music. As a little girl, growing up in India, I loved dancing to folk music and Bollywood beats (Indian movie music). It was not only my favorite past time but also free entertainment for family and guests. Over years, dancing became a hobby and soon my passion. I participated in school & college festivals, social gatherings and later did stage performances in India as well as in the US. And then life got busy… Dancing was on the back burner, enjoying it only occasionally at weddings, dance parties etc. 

The concept of Jazzercise took my breath away, made me nostalgic of the days of dancing and all the happiness that came along. I knew I had finally found my ultimate key to sound health, physical as well as emotional, mental and spiritual. Jazzercise is my workout mantra – dancing to favorite music & incorporating stretching, cardio, weight training with body weight, endurance training as well as weight loss. I uniquely customize my each ‘Jazzercise at Home’ session to match my time availability, mood, fatigue level and other variables in everyday life. No fancy training equipment, no fees, no membership, no partner needed; just me and my happy soul dancing to embrace a healthy and happy life!!! Drinking lot of water, eating fruits and vegetables, reducing food portion and overall attention to balanced life style has complemented very well with Jazzercise.
